The Rainbows of River Road
Rainbows are not all that unusual, especially in the summer. What is unusual, at least in my personal experience is seeing a rainbow with both ends on the ground (or water as the case may be). Prior to late July, early August of 2020 I can recall definitely seeing such a rainbow only once before. During the space of a week it happened right where we live, not once, not twice, but three times (if you allow some creative counting)!
The first two pictures in this album were taken around 8:15 PM on July 23, 2020. The first image below is, in fact, a composite of two separate photographs. (All composites on this page were created using the Image Composite Editor from Microsoft.)
The nearly flat rainbow - picture 3 in this album - (something else new to me) was taken around 4:40 PM on August 2, 2020.
Picture 4 is a composite of 3 photographs taken around 6:25 PM on August 2, 2020. That rainbow disappeared and then - Picture 5 - a DOUBLE rainbow (with both ends grounded) appeared at 6:43 PM! You have to look carefully to see the outer rainbow, but it is there. (This last picture is another composite.)
Update: Sept 5, 2020 - Another double rainbow, this one even sharper than the others. Three new pictures added to the end of this album.
