Where Eagles Dare
Eagles may not be a daily or even a weekly sighting (at least not by me) , but they can be seen with some regularity around Norwood Pond.
The first two pictures were taken on early in the morning of November 3, 2019. The adult eagle was perched on the branch of a dead tree that we can see from our kitchen window (I stepped outside to take these pictures). Remarkably, the pictures of the juvenile eagle were taken later the very same day!
The final sequence is from early spring 2020. I watched an adult fly in and over the river near Eagle Point (on my map), scaring a large flock of geese half to death, before settling in to the tree in which you see it perched in these pictures. It sat there for quite some time suffering the attention of a flock of crows with about as much good grace as an eagle can muster. Shortly after the crows gave up, the eagle took wing and headed south over the trees.
